Spain’s Canary Islands could get 300,000 extra tourists this winter as northern European sunseekers shun Egypt and Tunisia because of the political unrest in the two nations, officials said Monday.
Both nations have emerged in recent years as cheaper alternatives to the Canaries for those seeking a winter break by the beach but the deadly political violence that erupted in both nations last month has forced tourists to flee.

Spain Tourism Board South-East Asia based in Singapore
Come May 2009, the Spain Tourism Board India will open the doors of it representative office, located in Mumbai. Mr Miguel Nieto Sandoval, will be the first director to be physically based in India. Mr Nieto was also the former director the Spain Tourism Board South-East Asia based in Singapore when it was still handling the Indian market. He will be taking over the current director, Mr Enrique Ruiz de Lera who has been recently promoted to the International Head of Marketing in headquarters, based in Madrid. Astana is the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan since some years ago, and lots of modern buildings (some of them are weird, but most of them are, really beautiful and functional), are being built in the city. The government of the nation built modern buildings too. Nevertheless, the largest city in Kazakhstan is Alma-Ata, the former capital.

Spain is a country in southern Europe on the Mediteranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. It borders France and Portugal. It includes the Balearic and Canary islands and two enclaves in North Africa. Much of the mainland is a high plateau. The climate is Mediter-ranean. In the south it is warmer and dryer. On the coast more temperate. Agriculture, fishing, mining, manufac-turing and service are main activities. Tourism is an important industry. The population of about 40.000.000 live in an area of about 505.000 square kilometers. Languages spoken are Spanish, Catalan, Galician and Basque. In the tourist areas many speak German and Englsih.
